Tiger Tips: Toggle Dashboard Widget Bar via Keyboard Shortcuts

It's no secret I like keyboard shortcuts. Dashboard's widget bar (is it technically a bar? I think it's more like a well) has been pretty useless to me since I have to click on that ugly plus (+) sign to open it.

Not anymore, thanks to an anonymous reader at MacOSXHints who discovered that command-equal (that's the command/apple key plus the equal sign key) will toggle the Dashboard bar on and off on the US keyboard. As readers quickly pointed out, he command is different if you're using a non-US keyboard.

  • For French users it's command+"-" (underscore keybord key)
  • On a german keyboard it's command-´ (Accent Acute).
  • For Italian users: "cmd" + "ì"
  • On portuguese keyboards it's command +
