Nokia to release technical details of mobile TV system to service providers

So Nokia has been doing their mobile TV thing in Finland for a couple of months now, and they're getting set to release the specs of their system to mobile service providers. The goal is to help the providers get ready to offer commercial mobile TV services by 2006. The air interface specifications are based on DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcast-Handheld — the European standard for broadcast TV transmission to handsets) and will give details on how mobile TV terminals can establish connections with the network. By releasing the information as an open standard,
Nokia hopes to provide operators and service providers with some assurance about handset interoperability, in order to foster trust within the burgeoning industry.
