MaxStream XPress Ethernet Bridge: 15 miles of wireless lovin'
Have a desire to bridge two ethernet devices several miles apart? Sure you do, and that's why we get along so well. MaxStream has introduced the XPress long range wireless bridge which interfaces with any ethernet client/host device to achieve point-to-point connectivity at a range of up to 15-miles. That's unobscured line-of-sight, of course.
These units operate in the more unusual (for wireless bridges) 900 MHz band and are targeted at environments where WiFi is too slow due to saturation or general 2.4 GHz interference (airports, malls). The matched pair come in indoor (ugly)
and outdoor (f-ugly) configurations and claim to require no configuration or software. Oh, then why all the DIP
switches? Data is indeed encrypted and transmitted at a rate up to 1.5Mbps. The indoor unit goes for $699, or you're out $999 for the out-of-door model.
