AMD Geode LX800: XP on your toaster

Want XP running as your toaster interface?
Sure ya do, and AMD is here to help. Today AMD announced the availability of their Geode (please let this be pronounced
"Yoda" somewhere on this planet) LX800 processor targeted squarely at consumer electronics devices. The chip is benchmarked at 800 MHz but requires less than one watt of power (read: no heat sink or fan) — that's the best performance per watt in the industry today. What's interesting here, is that the chip is based on the x86 architecture making it capable of running XP and XP embedded systems — and any improvement in consumer electronics' interface design and consistency is fine with us. As you would expect,
Intel is not sitting idly by here as they too are working on their consumer electronics chip-set. So imagine this gentle readers – the familiar XP interface on your DVD player, HDTV, car radio, microwave...iPod.
