Iomega's (up to) 850GB nanotech optical disc

We keep wanting to count Iomega out (can you even remember the last time you used a Zip Disc?), but they've just managed to score a patent for a new technique that uses "reflective nanostructures" to potentially squeeze as much as 850GB (or so) onto an articulated optical-digital versatile disc, or AO-DVD. They don't say much about their immediate plans for the technology, but there's no way it'll be less than a couple of years (at least) before they can commercialize this.

[Thanks, John & distantbody]
