Acer interested in HP's PC division?
The Inq is disclaiming this as a rumor (or "rumour", since they're British), but supposedly HP is thinking about unloading its PC business, with Acer and Fujitsu Siemens said to be the most likely buyers. We'll believe it when we see it (last month HP CEO Mark Hurd said that he wouldn't consider breaking up the company, at least not for now), but it's actually not as totally crazy as it sounds, especially in the wake of
Lenovo's acquisition of IBM's PC
business earlier this year. Besides, it's no secret that HP's PC division is significantly less profitable than its printer and imaging division, and there was already a round of speculation about a possible spin-off/break up last year.
