Skype going retail?
Om Malik reports that Skype just signed a deal with Brightpoint to get Skype promoted and sold in the retail channel, which would pit them more squarely against commercial VoIP providers like Vonage. This is a step away from their previous viral marketing focus, and indicates a willingness to step up and compete more solidly in the commercial VoIP space. They've also just added their own voicemail service (though there have previously been third-party apps to do this), which is a key component to competing with services like Vonage. Skype's looking pretty busy these days, but they still manage to find time for dating.
