The Mailbox Cam keeps watch for months without new batteries

At first glance we thought someone finally got their
fuel cell act together but no, this is more of a lifehack than a technical solution to the problem of battery life. Still and all, inventor Scott Jezierski has come up with a way to preserve the battery life on a remote security camera — by making the power control itself wireless. Owners of the device can use a remote control to turn off the camera during non-peak times, obviating the need to replace the batteries as frequently or to keep the camera tethered to a power source. Apparently, enough folks feel the need to monitor the precise moment when the post is delivered that the device will be named the Mailbox Cam and, for some reason, adding that extra wireless sensor has jacked the price of a security camera up to $199.95.
