Sharp's HR-MB3S 4GB digital audio player

We can appreciate the constraints companies have to work with when they're designing a product, but can anyone explain why the LCD screen on the HR-MB3S, Sharp's new 4GB digital audio player, is so danged small? Seems like such a waste to slap a color display on there if you're not going to make it useful for looking at digital photos or comfortably navigating your music collection or whatever. Oh, and for context this one's a bit bigger, heavier, and costlier than the 4GB iPod mini.
