Court grants no-shred for AMD, 9 companies comply
We're going to try and keep the blow-by-blows of the
AMD/Intel
anti-trust case to a reasonable level, but we're sure you'll agree that AMD being granted by the court subpoena services for the preservation and retention of documents by third party companies is a pretty big deal. Thusfar 32 subpoenas have passed through to all the big name businesses that wheel and deal in the two heavyweights' products, and 9 have agreed to comply, including Acer, Circuit City,
Gateway, Lenovo, NEC, Rackable Systems Inc., Sony, Sun, and Tech Data Corp. What it means is that these businesses will temporarily cease their normal document destruction patterns until any evidence that would be useful to AMD's case could be vetted and brought to light. Man, this is already gettin' ugly. AMD going to request all Intel's porn be discussed in court, too?
