Apple lowers iPod battery replacement price

iPodlounge reports that Apple has quietly lowered the price of its iPod Battery Replacement Program
from $99 to $59.

That's mighty nice of them, but I'm a fan of the NewerTech high-capacity iPod batteries, which are half that price and last about 2x as long. I still get 19-21 hours on my 5GB first generation iPod, thanks for the NewerTech battery I installed a year or so ago.  If you're worried that you can't install it yourself, you shouldn't worry too much. It's really pretty simple and everyone I've convinced to try it themselves, after they'd sworn they would screw something up, has reported success and elation with the results.
