Music Thing: Mark Wood Violins

Each week Tom Whitwell of
Music Thing highlights the best of the new music gear that's coming
out, as well as noteworthy vintage equipment:

For a while now, Music Thing has been featuring the gruesome excesses of lead guitarists, from Triple Neck Guitars to extravagantly silly
guitar playing. This week we discovered that violinists are also trying to get in on a piece of the action.

The main culprit is a guy called Mark Wood, who builds seven string Flying V-shaped electric violins with frets, and sells them for $3,500. Noteworthy: he used to be in a band called Voodoo Violince (do you see what he's done there?).
You can even catch him playing a custom made violin shaped like a huge red hand pushing against his chest, apparently attached to his neck with a leather dog collar. Incidentally, he's a close personal friend of Dee Snider from Twisted Sister, and has also been on tour with Celine Dion. That's right, Celine Dion.
