Backup cams for the road behind
While we think the majority of people looking into the
Lilliput RV18-50NP rearview-mirror/TV combo we checked out recently may be planning to use it for purposes that are now
illegal in some states, enough of you may be considering using it as a backup cam that we thought we'd check out some of the alternatives. Sigma Automotive has a number of dedicated backup cam solutions, including versions that mount on your license plate frame, night vision cams, and units that hook onto motor homes (which could be especially handy, since those rigs are just one big blind spot). Kits start at around $300, which is certainly a better price than you're going to get for a pre-installed cam from your auto dealer (and, yes, they sell their own rearview-mirror display, if you really want one).
