Philips's LED streetlamps keep shining, and shining, and…
The Dutch are keeping their streets lighter longer thanks to Philips, who've put up the first streetlamps that use LEDs in the central town of Ede. The new lamps cost about twice as much as normal, gas-filled streetlamps but last up to four times longer, giving them about a 12 year lifespan when lit for an average 11-12 hours per day. They're also easier and cheaper to replace, and we decline to find any fault with easy and cheap.
