Slim CRT HDTV demand to increase

CRT demand continues to rise as the depth of these televisions continues to decrease according to LG.Philips Displays. The LG.Philips venture is the combination of LG Electronics and Royal Philips Electronics, but we're guessing you already knew that. We're betting you didn't know that previously bulky CRT's are slimming down to depths that begin to rival flat panel displays such as Plasma and LCD.

LG.Philips has already showcased a 29-inch CRT that is only 35 millimeters centimeters thick. The joint venture between the electronics manufacturers is predicting demand for 67 million skinny CRTs by the year 2010. Development of the slimmer CRTs is a definite boon for the consumer, as prices of similar-sized CRT televisions are traditionally lower than comparable flat panel televisions.
