Full HDTV PDPs from Samsung

Watch for full HDTV-capable Plasma Display Panel (PDP) televisions from Samsung early in 2006. This development was announced at the Information Display and Exhibition show that is currently taking place in South Korea. The first model planned is a 63-inch unit, according to Samsung.

No other details or specifications are available, but it's a safe bet that the PDPs will be capable of 1080p resolution. Earlier this year at CES, Samsung demonstrated 1920 x 1080 resolution on the world's largest PDP, which measures in at 102-inches. Samsung expects that PDP demand will double from 7 million to 15 million units through the year 2007. We expect that many folks will be expanding their current entertainment rooms to handle the larger screens.
