Welcome to the Freon-free AC, special thanks to Peltier
Anyone a little more well versed in
overclocking (that is, before commodity watercooling) knows a thing or two about Peltiers—nodes whose ceramic elements get very cold on one pole, and very hot on the other. So it makes a lot of sense that someone would eventually harness this solid-state cooling power to develop an AC that is more energy efficient, reliable, and most importantly, non-ozone depleting. Which is just what Tyler Lyon and Daniel Winegar, two recent Utah HS graduates did—Ricoh even awarded them a trip to Japan and a $50,000 scholarship for the deed. Well done boys, but we still need to get this Pentium up to 4.8GHz, little help?
