The Elevator Channel: going up?

The next time you're riding in an elevator, you might be in for a widescreen show. A Charlotte-based company is betting that you want to watch some advertising on a nice LCD screen. The Eleveator Channel has already installed 85 LCDs in elevators over the past four years for your viewing and riding pleasure.

Currently, the company claims 4.5 million advertising impressions per month, which is no small number. The interesting aspect is how to validate the ad impressions. The Elevator Channel has patented their "Rider Recognition" to see what ads people are watching and how many people are watching them. Sounds nifty, but we'd like to see the cameras recognize us and just go to the floor of our choosing based on facial expressions. You know, a big smile and drool on our face takes us right to the floor that sells the latest digital televisions? Going up?
