Gigabyte's new HDTV graphics card
This new computer graphics card from Gigabyte may have raised the standard for on-board RAM. The GV-RX80L512V ups the standard 128 or 256 megabytes of memory to 512 MB. Most of the graphics industry buzz will likely center on that fact, but we see another reason to plunk down some money for this card: HDTV support.
The GV is built off of the ATI Radeon X800 chipset and has diverse set of outputs: DVI-I, TV-OUT, VIVO and HDTV. The product press release also mentions a "unique HDTV/VIVO adapter box from GIGABYTE that simplifies multiple output connections and makes upgrading a PC to a digital home theatre a breeze", but we haven't seen any specs or pics just yet. Depending on the future details, this card could bridge the gap for people wanting top-notch gaming capability plus HDTV or media center-type functionality. Nice!
