Samsung plans 7G LCD production, larger sizes

No product announcements yet, but this is HD Beat: we don't wait for product announcements! Instead, we often watch what's happening in the television component manufacturing area. Take today, for example: Samsung announced an acceleration of their plans to produce 40- and 46-inch LCD panels in a new production line utilizing 7th-generation (7G) manufacturing.

Samsung does offer one LCD model in 40-inches and one in 46-inches. Our expectation is that Samsung introduces several more LCDs in size "Large" next year. In fact, part of the press release indicates that Samsung will standardize on this size, so it's likely that offerings in "Small" and "Medium" might decrease.

The changes required for production of these LCD panels will take Samsung several months so production  isn't slated until April, 2006. We'll be waiting!
