Sharp brings XL LCD to US
Sharp keeps all of the good stuff in Japan. Until now, that is. Looks like the LC-65GE1 from Sharp is coming overseas to the United States and possibly to Europe too.
The LC is a 65-inch monster capable of 1920 x 1080 pixels and can handle 1080i broadcasts natively. All of the expected inputs are available: HDMI, DVI, IEEE-1394 and CableCard. The LC also uses Sharp's "Quick Shoot" technology to decrease smearing artifacts during fast motion scenes.
We like the feature set, but we're not fans of the price. Look for this behemoth to run close to $15,000. We just applied for a limit increase on our Visa card to get a review unit, however it's nice to know that some of the demo products from CES actually hit the market.
