Back to school shopping for HDTVs
Quick: when you hear the phrase "back-to-school shopping", what product immediately comes to mind? For me, a TrapperKeeper was the pentultimate back-to-school item, but then again I'm getting on in age since today is another birthday. Anyway, it seems like the folks at BusinessWeek are updating the shopping list with some reasonably priced multi-function LCDs that double as HDTV sets.
I'm all for the kids having what they need for school, but does anyone else see a problem with this? Aren't there enough distractions around with all of the cell-phones, MP3 players and really cool websites for them? You just know that there will be droves of students cutting class to watch "The Young and the Restless" simply because it's in HD. Don't get me wrong: I love to see HDTV spread like wildfire, just not at the expense of someone's education.
