Callwave launches first VoIP-enhanced "pre-paid" cellphone
CallWave has launched what is apparantly the first VoIP-enhanced "pre-paid" cellphone (we had to put pre-paid in quotes cause the service will actually cost you $3.95 a month in addition the the set refill rates for additional minutes). For that you'll get nationwide AT&T coverage (technically it's Cingular, guess they had a contract with AT&T) and the first 1,000 qualifying customers will also receive a free no-contract phone with 60 minutes of airtime included. The service also includes a "Follow Me Home" feature that will redirect calls to your home phone when your cellphone is turned off, as well as Mobile Call Screening and Mobile Call Transfer, which'll let you transfer a live call to another phone. For once, there's also no termination fee for cancelling the service.
