HDTV coverage of Discovery's return

If you missed the most-watched shuttle launch in 1080i, you can make up for it by catching the landing in high-def thanks to HDNet. You'll have to set your alarm clock super early though; the expected landing time is 4:46 AM (Eastern Time) on Monday, August 8th. I guess you "west-coast'rs" might as well just stay up late.

HDNet
will compile the high-def footage for two prime-time programs, one on August 9th and the second on August 16th. The programs will air at 8:00 PM (Eastern Time) both nights.

Don't forget that you can download a twenty minute, 1080i Windows Media Video of the launch at no charge. More broadcasters and content providers should consider using computer media and broadband technologies to deliver HD videos. I'm betting that eventually we'll see a good percentage of media delivered in this fashion. It's just a matter of time.
