Samsung ships new plasma line

No, not to my home, but maybe to yours. Samsung just announced that their new PDP line is shipping in small, medium and large. The new 72-series is the fifth-generation plasma from Samsung and each of these sets are four-inches thick: perfect for a big screen without taking up big space.

The medium-sized 50-incher is the flagship of the series and offers a 10,000:1 contrast ratio along with a 175-degree viewing angle. Side inputs, Samsung's DNIe image enhancer, built-in digital tuner, CableCARD and HDMI jack complete the sweet picture. Ten audio speakers complement the high-end video features. These sets are capable of displaying 549 billion colors, which is just staggering.

Bookending the 50-inch model is a 42- and a 63-inch model. The HP-R4272 lists for $4,199; the HP-R5072 goes for $5,699; and HP-R6372 jumps to $12,999.
