Sorell SF3000 mini PMP reviewed
CNet takes a look at one of the smallest video-enabled flash-based MP3 players around, the Sorell SF3000 1GB player,
and gives it a 7/10. It impresses with its small size (2.6 x 1.2 x 0.6 inches, and less than an ounce) and small yet brilliant screen — but predictably, they report watching video on the tiny LCD just isn't very compelling. They also like its scratch and fingerprint resistant finish, and good looks overall — though the software interface is confusing due to multifunction buttons. The device supports MPEG4/JPG/MP3/OGG/ASF/WMA and DRM'd WMA (with firmware upgrade), but they expect the video playback function will be too underutilized to offset the high pricepoint ($250) for many (which still doesn't include a power adapter). They describe the sound quality as "expansive and clear," but advise using it with better headphones (surprise, surprise). One more set of tradeoffs: battery life is not great at 10.4 hours, but file transfer speeds are fast at 6.24MB/s.
