Law makes for safer intersections
We don't even want to know what kinds of riders and sub-bills got attached to the Safe Intersections Act that got passed yesterday, but it's now officially illegal to use an unauthorized "traffic signal pre-emption transmitter"—you know, the same kinds of IR transmitters the PoPo, EMS, and Firefighters use to stop traffic and blow through lights. So if you've got one, you best not get caught with it, since now it can land you six months in the slammer.
P.S. Now that you know a little bit more about these things would you stop freaking flashing your lights at the intersection? That trick hasn't worked for years.
