Sharp plans to double Europe sales

Not satisfied with dominating only the Japanese television market, Sharp has set its sights on Europe. Sharp currently commands a 50% market share for LCDs in Japan, but only 20% in Europe.

Why the big push into the EU? According to the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association, Europe is poised for major television growth. The expectation is for growth in the 80% range, so it makes sense for Sharp, and others, to target Europe. I hope they don't forget us here in the States!
