Canon building SED research center

Canon announced plans for an SED panel research center south of Tokyo, Japan earlier today. The new R&D facility will cost Canon 20 billion yen, which is nothing compared to the 200 billion yen Canon is investing with Toshiba for SED production.

Canon is one of the key developers of SED panel technology and began to develop the technology almost 20 years ago. Working with Toshiba, Canon is expected to help produce sets that have the space benefits of flat-panel sets combined with the clarity and contrast of CRT sets. In case you missed it, we penned a high-level overview on how SED technology works last week.
