Akimbo will have an HD unit
Since there isn't much afternoon HD programming we decided to read the lastest news in "Communications Engineering and Design". You know, the broadband technology magazine? You do have a subscription, don't you? Yeah, right.
Actually, it's pretty good mag and we just stumbled across an interview with Akimbo CEO Josh Goldman. In case you aren't aware, Akimbo is a video-delivery service that utilizes broadband to bring content to your television.
At the tail end of the interview (yes, we read to the bottom this time), Goldman indicates "When we architected the whole system, it was designed to do the same thing for
hi-def content....We have not yet announced a stand-alone version
of our player with HD outputs. That obviously would need a larger hard drive and a different chipset.
But we view hi-def content as ultimately a critical part of what we'll do." What a great development this will be!
