Making games for grandma

When a developer suggests that being a Granny "is a bit like being drunk," you know with all certainty that this is not a typical discussion. At the Game Developer's Conference in Europe, three developers were asked to design a game for (much) older women – Grannies. Demis Hassabis thought of a MMO gossip simulator. Nick James from Bizarre Creations offered nothing much more than the aforementioned analysis on life as a Granny. Keita Takahashi, the skewed mind behind Katamari Damacy, more or less described a game where robot cats play mind games and order poor old Granny around. Demented? Yes, but it was also the crowd favorite.

I cannot do any of these ideas justice, so just click on the link and enjoy Gamasutra's very detailed write-up on the event.
