InterVideo software to support DivX 6 and MPEG-4
We know that the switch from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4 is coming for high-definition content. It's good to see some folks planning ahead. InterVideo just announced that their WinDVD 7 software supports DivX 6 and MPEG-4 compression formats.
InterVideo's DVD Copy will also include support for the DivX Media Format. Consumers will be able to burn, convert and archive video files via the internet by providing the appropriate URL of the file.
I'm sure there are some copyright implications that aren't yet addressed, so we'll watch for the developments on this. Suffice it to say that as HD video over broadband continues to gain momentum, these types of applications definitely have a place in our future.
