U.S. leads global HD installs
Well, we might have some HDTV transition issues, but we're clearly the leader in the number of homes with high-definiton sets. The numbers below reflect figures from Informa Telecoms & Media and are in thousands.
For all of the issues and extended deadlines we're having, it's interesting to see that the United States represents over 55% of the installed high-def home base. Japan has roughly 25% of the worldwide install base, so the rest of the world makes up the remaining 20%.
Surprised? I'm not; the HD Beat readers make up a good portion of the U.S. numbers. Hey, we can dream can't we?
