Verizon's putting some tunage on that VX8100

Looks like Verizon was getting a little antsy about the impending Cingular/ROKR release, so they went ahead and announced the firmware upgrade needed to really make that slightly homely EV-DO
VX8100 handset shine with music playback from the memory card. It also looks like they're really shying away from OTA downloads for now, being that they're pimping this upgrade on an angle that it's complementary to ringback tones and their
V CAST service for music videos. Fair enough; so yes, now those external playback buttons will really get useful. Or you can go with a Motorola E815 or UTStarcom CDM-8940 if you're still not feeling the LG but want some non-Apple/Moto cellphone music playback on the big V.
