Samsung developing cure-all for next-gen format war?
Samsung has announced plans to develop a DVD
player that supports both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD formats. This unified disc drive could essentially put an end to the next-gen format war. That is, it would alleviate some of the manufacturing costs for developers and publishers, as well as, allow consumers more freedom of choice. And conceivably, bearing in mind that MS and Samsung are HDTV partners, we might wind up seeing some version of this unified drive making its way into the Xbox 360. How's that for a stretch?
