The Packet Vision PV1000: watch only the commercials you want (yeah, right)
We'll admit it, some television advertising is entertaining and even, gasp, informative. However, the bulk of it blows meat so nothing makes us happier than to read about the long slow death rattle of the TV ad. However, British developer Packet Vision hopes their digital device will save the TV commercial (and turn a tidy profit, natch) by directing only those commercials viewers "want to watch" to their glowing tubes-of-boob. The PV1000 (which sits with your provider, not in your crib) is designed for
IPTV (Internet Protocol Television, or Broadband TV)
which expects to boast 12 million subscribers globally by 2010. Here's the sticking point, the PV1000 depends on a database of "top-class demographic data" about you and yours in order to target your personal interests effectively. Te he... Oh man, good luck to ya Packet Vision, you've got a long hard road ahead.
