New HDTV "gentlemen's network"
Before anyone accuses me of using "s-e-x" for garnering more traffic, there's a definite fit here. Penthouse Media Group announced that it will launch several high-definition networks. We think they mean "channels" and not "networks", but that remains to be seen (by those of age, that is). Besides, I have a feeling you aren't worried about semantics at this point.
Ironically, Penthouse has hired Jim English to head up the new endeavor. English had a stint as the President of rival Playboy TV. While there, he indicated that Playboy would never do an HDTV channel because he claims "the girls aren't that pretty." Apparently, he thinks the girls at Penthouse are. I wouldn't know of course....
Penthouse Media has secured $48 million in financing for the new channels. That should cover the cost of several thousand "not so pretty girls" in HDTV for quite some time. I've been after Dish to pick up the NFL Sunday Ticket for years; won't it be just my luck that they'll offer this network instead.
