Plasma prices falling, but not as much

Samsung, the world leader in PDP manufacturing, is looking for the very hot plasma market to cool down through the rest of the year. Plasma prices have plummeted over the last several quarters, and while the trend will continue downward, the price decreases may slow down. It was less than a year ago that mid-size PDP sets were costing upwards of $10,000 or more. Current prices for a comparable set are now in the two to three-thousand dollar range.

So just how much will plasma prices keep dropping? Samsung is predicting a 3% to 5% decrease in the third quarter of this year, and just a negligible 1% to 2% drop the rest of the year. Holiday demand should keep prices healthy; why should the manufacturers keep dropping the prices if everybody's gotta hav' a PDP for Christmas?
