Sept. 20: What's on HDTV today

What we're watching
:
Well that was quick. We drop from 18 hours of HD programming last night to only 9 tonight. That's OK, there's still something for everyone. Besides, my "trigger finger" is tired from swapping channels with the remote all night long last night. I'll follow the same format as yesterday since we've still got plenty of premieres to go.

After the jump is my personal lineup followed by our traditional listing of HD programs throughout the night. Since it continues to be such a big week for HDTV, drop us a comment and let us know what you're watching!

  My planned lineup:

  • "NCIS" at 8:00 p.m. on CBS (1080i). Hey, it's a two-parter so you have to watch, right?
  • "My Name is Earl" at 9:00 p.m. on NBC (1080i). I just want to see if it's as dumb as my significant other expects it to be. She's usually right.
  • "Supernatural" at 9:10 p.m. on WB (1080i). I was wrong and Barb was right about "Earl."
  • "The Office" at 9:30 p.m. on NBC (1080i). Barb doesn't like scary shows.
  • "24: Season 3, episode 10" on DVD (480p). Simply because we don't like "Law & Order: SVU" which is at 10:00 p.m. on NBC (1080i). Besides, TV shows on DVD don't have commercials!

Here are some other HDTV programs showing on selected networks today. All times are Eastern:

ABC: According to Jim (8:00 p.m.)

CBS: NCIS (8:00 p.m.), Late Show with David Letterman (11:35 p.m.)

NBC: My Name is Earl (9 p.m.), The Office (9:30 p.m.), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (10 p.m.),
The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (11:35 p.m.), Conan O'Brien (12:37 p.m.)

Fox: Bones (8 p.m.), House (9 p.m.)

WB: Gilmore Girls (8 p.m.), Supernatural (9 p.m.)
