DTV, HDTV and...Google TV?
It's amazing that you determine a company's strategic vision simply by reviewing their job openings. Take the role that Google is looking to fill: "In this role, you will provide leadership on product vision and execution of projects that enable using Google's search and advertising technologies to enhance users' Television viewing experience."
There's some additional notes on understanding IPTV, PVRs and more so I
don't think this would be an add-on service that Google is going to sell. More likely, this might be a foray in to the world of IPTV
content delivery, something that Microsoft is already pursuing.
You have to wonder a few things: would Google have the bandwidth to provide HD content? Would they work with a competitor, i.e., Microsoft,
in a high-def format such as WMV HD? Will they provide targeted content as well as targeted ads? IPTV is about to get very interesting, me thinks!
