Would you buy an HD set and not watch HD shows?
Matt's post on how many homes have an HDTV set
raised another interesting question: why are people buying the sets?
The study indicated that out of 28.6 million homes that own high-def sets, only 9.8 million of those homes
have a set-top box or integrated HD tuner. It's one thing to plan ahead, but only 34% of those early adapters can catch an HD show?
Either the article isn't quite right or we've got a bunch of folks pre-empting the DTV switchover by upgrading their sets well in advance. I'm curious how you read the study; perhaps I'm misinterpreting the story. Better yet: do have an HD set that you can't watch high-def programming on?
