Games Can Help for families affected by Hurricane Katrina

Games Can Help is "a not-for-profit group of volunteers looking to make a difference to children in need through the joy of gaming. Working alongside organizations such as Marine Toys for Tots and the United Way, and involved in fundraising efforts on behalf of the American Red Cross, Games Can Help looks to video game publishers to contribute product that can make a difference to families in need," beginning in 2005 with families affected by Hurricane Katrina.

Auctions for game-related packages should be up soon, and the charity is also in the process of collecting new video game systems, as well as games to play on them, from big publishers and developers to individuals and unrelated corporations. The donations of new game gear is reminiscent of Penny Arcade's successful
Child's Play ininiative to give to children's hospitals,
but organized to help whatever children "need it the most." It's great to see even more
gamers working together to help others through the games we all know and love.
