Wal-Mart and Fuji partner to provide services for digicam printing
Wal-Mart is going after digicam users in a big way, targeting
virtually every segment of the market with prices that undercut just about all other print services. The retailer
has partnered with Fuji to launch the Digital Dropbox service, which will let digicam users upload the contents of
their memory cards via an in-store kiosk and then pick up their prints two days later. Prints will be just 15
cents each at Wal-Mart, and 13 cents at the company's Sam's Club warehouse chain. Wal-Mart is also targeting
customers who've been willing to trade timeliness for the convenience of ordering prints online through companies
like Shutterfly and Snapfish; Digital Dropbox will be available through Wal-Mart's web site, at the same 15
cents-per-print price. For customers who don't want to come into the store, prints can be ordered online for 12
cents plus shipping. And for customers who are both impatient and cheap budget-conscious, one-hour prints
are available for just 19 cents.
