Armageddon to be the next current-gen Mortal Kombat?

Sources within Midway say that the next Mortal Kombat game will be subtitled Armageddon and will not be on next-gen consoles. According to TRMK.org, "They're fixing and expanding the current DA/Deception fighting engine and enhancing Konquest mode" in the next game.

In an added bit of online sleuthing, it was found that Midway San Diego had registered
the MKArmageddon.com domain name back on September 23rd of this year.

That Midway San Diego (which produced the latest MK-related action-fighter Shaolin Monks)
registered the domain name instead of Midway Chicago (which produces the main MK fighting games) is a bit odd,
but, considering that they?re under the same corporate umbrella, wouldn?t be that far-fetched (even if the team in Chicago is handling the bulk of the work). Then again, perhaps an Armageddon-themed sequel to Shaolin Monks is in the works as well. Time will tell whether these inside sources can be believed.
