Xbox 360 guru to give lecture at Japanese college

Microsoft has been going a tad overboard in trying to persuade the Japanese gamer to buy its console – the reaction to the original Xbox has been rather tepid. For the Xbox 360, however, Microsoft has done everything in its power to reverse that sentiment, stopping short of giving out free consoles and groveling before every single citizen. Microsoft has gained support from Japanese developers,
opened an Xbox 360 lounge, spoke at the Tokyo Game Show,
and now they are giving speeches at a Tokyo University.

On October 7th at the Tama Campus of Chuou College in Tokyo, Microsoft Japan head honcho Yoshihiro Maruyama will be holding a lecture open to the public about (surprise!) the Xbox 360 and Microsoft's philosophies therein – namely, its three big points for HD Entertainment: Customization, Online, and Hi-Definition. We are not sure how giving a stock speech to a crowd of Japanese college students is supposed to sway the public into buying its console, but it does show how determined Microsoft is at winning over the Japanese consumer.
