Activision stays firm on $60 price for next-gen titles
Speaking to Forbes magazine, Activision CEO
Bobby Kotick has reaffirmed his position on pricing next-generation console games at $60 – a 20% increase over the current generation. According to Kotick:
"We've said we're to going sell those products at higher price points until ... the market forces us to sell them at
lower price points, which we don't think is likely. We don't really think that there's a lot of price sensitivity on
the part of the consumer, if you're delivering value."
Of course, the problem therein is with making sure the next-generation games are all worth $60, and Activision's lineup of Tony Hawk, Call of Duty, and Quake sequels, may or may not have that
added value over their predecessors.
