Pioneer faces 1st losses in 10 years

Did you know that plasmas are just over 10 years old? Really, they turned the big "two digits" back in June and do you know that was the last time Pioneer reported an operating loss on profits? They are blaming slow DVD and plasma TV sales for the 87 million dollar loss. I guess that would be slowPioneer plasma TV sales.

Pioneer does make a hell of a plasma, but in my humble opinion as a TV
salesman, they need to diversify now that plasmas have matured. There was a time that people would spend the extra dough on a high end name like Pioneer, and there still are a few, but plasmas are a everyday thing now. More and more people are buying them and there are tons of new sets that offer a very good picture but a much lower price. I
agree, Pioneers are amazing plasmas and there still is a market for the mid and high end sets, but more people buy lower priced TVs.

Look at Panasonic
for example. They are very successful in plasmas because of their lineup. It starts at $1999 for an ED 42-inch and continues up towards
$10,000 for their 1080p 65-incher. Panasonic has something for every size and, more importantly, every price range. Pioneer can't really say that.
Yes, they sell good great TVs, but they're out of reach by many people.
