Ricoh announces HD DVD-RW DL, confuses self
Here's the acronym everyone has been waiting for:
Ricoh has announced they've been developing HD
DVD-RW DL. OK, so they may not actually be calling it "HD DVD-RW DL," maybe because they realize how ridiculous it is,
but they're currently in the process of introducing a dual layer HD DVD-RW format to the DVD Forum. They've been just about as vague as everyone else in the next gen format wars has been, saying commercialization will come "sometime next year." Ricoh is one of only few companies smart enough to play both sides, though, as they remain members of both HD
DVD and Blu-Ray promotional groups.
