Single-play DVDs from Microsoft not true

I saw this yesterday on a number of sites, but something didn't seem right. Sure enough it wasn't. Folks were reporting
that Microsoft developed single play DVDs that would be inexpensive and disposable. Sounds like everybody is happy in DRM-Land, except for one thing. It's not true according to Ed Bott.

With the HD-DVD and Blu-Ray battle waging, I figured there's no way this news would be breaking now. We've already got plenty of new DVD players coming soon and the alleged single-play DVD would require yet another player.
Hey, we get our facts wrong too, and we take responsibility to try to correct them as quickly as we can. This is one time I'm glad I followed my instincts! Oh, the power of the blogosphere...
