Hitachi's prototype Bluetooth car toolkit

Bluetooth is starting to make its way into cars, providing a wireless interface with the vehicle's on-board diagnostic computer and other systems. But Project Bureau's digital tool kit, designed at the request of Hitachi's Milan Design Center, goes further than most, adding Bluetooth functions to everything from a warning triangle (to advise a driver of proper placement — EU laws require triangles to be placed 50 meters from a stalled car) to tools that are tracked within the vehicle (no more digging under the back seat for that wrench you think you dropped there). The warning triangle even includes a camera that links by Bluetooth to an onboard computer with software that lets it analyze road conditions, warning you if you've stopped in a risky spot. All tools can communicate directly with the driver over a standard Bluetooth headset Will any of this stuff ever be made?
Probably not, though we're angling for one of the enhanced orange vests, with built-in flashing electro-luminescent paper.

[Thanks, Dave]
